What Employers Should Know About Bill 168
On June 15, 2010, Bill 168 which amends Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety Act, (OHSA) comes into force. The new legislation will mean new obligations for employers in Ontario. The following is a brief summary of requirements for employers under Bill 168:
1. Employers must conduct an assessment of the risk of workplace violence.
2. Employers must prepare policies on workplace violence and harassment and review those policies at least once a year.

3. Employers must develop a program to implement the workplace violence and workplace harassment policies.
4. Employers must train workers on the workplace violence policy and program.
5. Employers must conduct a reassessment of the risk of workplace violence at least once a year.
